About Code & Coffee

Code & coffee is an informal get together to write some code Thursday morning. There are no requirements other than the willingness to sit down, pair up, and learn something new. We're going with mornings because the evenings are full enough as it is. Why add to the chaos of user groups, soccer games, and lawn mowing?

If you're interested in joining in, just show up. No invited needed, you don't need to RSVP, you just need a laptop. Coffee not provided, but it's just a few steps away. ;)

Location will be updated in the posts below, feel free to drop a comment in if you're going to join us. Hope to see you there.

May 28 – Back to Caribou

Had a few requests for venue change…we’ll try that out next week, so kindly drop suggestions below. I’m leaning towards Stauf’s in Grandview, mainly for the coffee.

For this Thursday, though, back to Caribou on Polaris and Sancus.

Dayton Code & Coffee 19 May

The Dayton Code and Coffee gang will be meeting on 19 May at the Caribou Coffee at the Green starting at 7:15AM.

Show up if you've any interest in doing some public coding with other passionate geeks who are interested in building skills. No equipment required -- we've got a couple systems loaded up with the great Ruby koans from EdgeCase.

See you there!

To keep a little consistency while starting out, we'll be back at Caribou tomorrow morning for some more morning coding.

Last week, there was a lot of Ruby Koans going on. I have a pressing need to bang out an ASP.Net MVC project for a demo, so I think I'll shift to that for tomorrow.

If you can join us, please do!

The second Code & Coffee meet will be right back at Caribou on Sancus near Polaris Pkwy. I’m once again aiming for a 7am arrival, maybe a bit earlier if I can pull it off.

Agenda will be similar to before: Pair up, work outside your comfort zone. If nothing else, I’ve got some Ruby Koans to keep working on.

Of note, I plan on trying different locations in the greater Columbus Metropolitan Area, but to give the idea some legs, I think sticking with Caribou for a few will make it easier. Not that I dig driving to Polaris, I really don’t, but my place of employment isn’t far from there, so it’s easy to leave Caribou at 8:15 and be at my desk before 8:30.

So, if you think you can make it, drop a comment below, and we’ll see you there!

April 30th Recap

April 30th marked the first code and coffee meet up. We met at Caribou on Sancus Rd., near Polaris Parkway. Nothing major was done, Jeff and Tim worked on the Ruby Koans, and some other odds and ends were taken care of by the guys who showed up.

Caribou gives you free refills if you’re drinking from one of their mugs. That was a nice find while we were coding away.

Attendees for the first meeting: Matt Casto, Charles Husemann, Jeff Blankenburg, Tim Wingfield
